Old Fall River Road

Chasm Lake

Great Sand Dunes
When you visit the Great Sand Dunes, you’ll hear the sound of millions of tumbling sand grains singing like angels. This sounds like humming, but is actually millions of grains of sand forced together by a natural avalanche. These avalanches happen during storms, and the dunes’ humming inspired the 1940 hit song “The Great Sand Dunes,” sung by Bing Crosby.
